	Government	www.direct.gov.uk is the main starting point for UK public sector information. The Highways Agency has a separate web site.
	Local Government	A comprehensive index to local government web sites can be accessed from the direct.gov.uk web site. The Improvement and Development Agency site, funded by local government, has many useful links. There is also the Local Government Association.
	Publications	The 2001 Safety at Street Works and Road Works Code of Practice, which has statutory backing, can be found in The Stationery Office book store site at www.tso.co.uk. The new Chapter 8 Traffic Signs Manual was published in July 2006 and can be downloaded free of charge at www.dft.gov.uk; there are 543 pages.
	Other organisations	The Code of Practice Training Programme was produced in conjunction with Mid Kent Water PLC, who have a CABWI Awarding Body street works training and assessment centre. City and Guilds are another street works qualifications awarding body. The Digger's Streetworks web site contains a wealth of information of interest to all involved with street works and road works.
